Sea container transport is considered for planned and bulky shipments. We compare FCL and LCL on the full cost to the agreed destination in Ukraine, including port handling and onward inland transport.
Air freight
Commercial air freight can suit urgent spare parts and compact high-value consignments. The assessment includes warehouse release, airport handling, available capacity and road delivery from an agreed foreign hub to Ukraine.
Splitting a purchase order
When only some items are urgent, a separate air shipment for priority goods can be compared with sea freight for the balance. Each consignment needs its own packing information and agreed documentation. We assess the cost implications before the order is split.
UAE dispatch and the origin of the goods
The country of purchase, dispatch location and country of origin may differ. When buying through a UAE trading business, establish who issues the invoice, who physically hands over the cargo and which documents accompany its export. A seller’s Dubai address alone does not explain the supply chain.
For a free-zone warehouse, we separately check release arrangements, required approvals and who prepares the documents. We recommend checking the invoice before international shipping, particularly when the manufacturer, intermediary and final buyer are different parties.
Cargo accepted for assessment
We assess machinery, tools, electronics, industrial components and packaged finished goods. For international spare parts shipping, provide part numbers, intended use, weights and package dimensions. Similar item names can conceal very different handling requirements.
Batteries, perfumes, aerosols, chemicals, pharmaceuticals and temperature-sensitive goods require a review of product specifications and route requirements before a quote is confirmed. Used machinery also needs details of its condition, residual operating fluids and transport preparation. Regulated goods are subject to separate acceptance checks.
Documents and each party’s role
The initial set includes the invoice, packing list, contract or transaction details, and Incoterms rule with a named place. Origin documents, permits and export or re-export information are requested where relevant. The required set depends on the goods and supply arrangement, not simply the dispatch country.
The supplier provides the agreed documents and makes the cargo available. The buyer confirms importer details and meets its payment obligations. SPS agrees the transport plan and coordinates commissioned operations. Customs support, airport handling and warehouse delivery are defined in the shipment order to clarify responsibility at each handover.
Price and planned delivery time
Costs depend on the warehouse address and operating conditions, export operations, packed weight and volume, selected transport and destination handling. For air routes, airport cargo handling is assessed separately, including acceptance, processing and handover to the next participant.
The proposal identifies included costs, exclusions and rate validity. Timing depends on document readiness, warehouse release, confirmed departures, transhipments and clearance. Express priority does not remove mandatory controls, so the arrival estimate covers the whole chain.
Shipment workflow
1. Review the enquiry, seller and actual dispatch location.
2. Obtain packed cargo details and information on restrictions.
3. Agree the route, quote and parties’ responsibilities.
4. Confirm the contract and shipment order, and review documents.
5. Arrange commissioned transport stages and provide status updates.
6. Coordinate release in Ukraine and confirm delivery.
Control and insurance
A responsible logistics coordinator manages communication with the supplier and route participants. Milestones and update arrangements are agreed before dispatch. Additional costs are approved under the procedure set out in the contract.
For valuable electronics and components, consider cargo insurance separately. Cover, exclusions and deductibles depend on the policy. A carrier’s liability should not be treated as automatic insurance for the full value of the goods.
