Ukraine has reached pre-war export figures

In April this year, Ukraine reached a record level of exports of products, exceeding 13 million tonnes and surpassing February's figures two years ago.
In monetary terms, exports for April 2024 totalled $3.3bn. According to Yulia Sviridenko, First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy of Ukraine, this growth was strongly influenced by the opening of an alternative sea route last summer, allowing Ukraine to increase grain and metal exports. Also important for realising export potential was the UNITY ship insurance programme, set up in partnership with the British government and a group of insurance companies. The improved capacity of the "Path of Solidarity" sea route, especially with Moldova and Romania, as well as better conditions for transporting cargo by rail to Danube ports also played a positive role in increasing exports.
