LTG Group and Ukrzaliznytsia officially signed a co-operation agreement aimed at strengthening international ties and developing a common intermodal route Klaipeda-Kiev via Poland. Under the memorandum signed in Vilnius, the participants agreed to conduct test transportations along this route this year with the subsequent launch of regular freight traffic. This will create an efficient transport corridor between Lithuania and Ukraine, utilising the potential of railways, port terminals and border crossing points. In addition, the companies agreed to analyze the market, develop technological and operational solutions necessary for the successful implementation of the project.

This memorandum is not the first between Lithuanian and Ukrainian railways to support Ukraine in the context of Russian aggression and its integration into the European railway network. Last year, LTG Group and Ukrzaliznytsia also signed an agreement in Munich to cooperate under the FREE Rail programme, which aims to create a railway operating model in line with European standards and best practices adapted to the specifics of broad gauge.

These initiatives are expected to promote closer integration of business communications, technology and information systems with Europe and open up new opportunities for companies, residents and the western railway industry.
