The Loadstar informs that there is an active decrease of spot rates for container transportations from Asia on all directions. Therefore, companies are forced to reduce rates for the carriage of all types of goods already in April.

For example, Hapag-Lloyd announced that from 1 April the cost of transporting a 20-foot container from Asia to Northern Europe will be 1600 USD, and 40-foot - 3000 USD. Shipping to ports in the Western Mediterranean these rates will be 2800 USD and 3500 USD respectively. MSC offers its customers delivery from Asia to Northern Europe for 2280 USD (20-foot container) and 3800 USD (40-foot container). For the Western
Mediterranean Sea the rates are 3150 USD and 4300 USD. A similar situation is observed in other major shipping companies, experts say.
According to experts, during the last month actually stopped the growth of prices on routes between Asia and Europe because of the crisis in the Red Sea. And for the last seven days fares fell by 8% on average both in the direction of the northern and Mediterranean coasts of Europe. The main reason is cited as a lack of sufficient demand for sea delivery of containers.

Meanwhile, over the last week, shipping a 40-foot container from Asia to the west coast of the US has fallen in price by 4% to 3934 USD, and to the east coast by 1% to 5376 USD.
