What is the RO e-TRANSPORT system in Romania and how does it affect transport?

The Ministry of Finance, through the National Agency for Fiscal Administration and the Romanian Customs Administration, monitors the transport of goods on the national territory through the Romanian e-Transport system - RO e-Transport.
RO e-Transport is an electronic system used to monitor road freight transport of goods with high fiscal risk, as well as international road freight transport within the Romanian territory.
On 15 December 2023, changes to the RO e-Transport system came into force. Goods weighing more than 500kg or with a value of more than 10,000 RON are now subject to mandatory declaration in the system, both for domestic and international road transport.
From 1 July 2024, sanctions for failure to declare in the RO e-Transport system will apply to all goods for international road transport. This applies to goods weighing more than 500kg or with a value of more than RON 10,000, which are subject to mandatory declaration for both national and international road transport.
RO e-Transport users are required to provide the carrier with the UIT code associated with the goods being transported, either directly or through the transport organizer, as appropriate.
