Ukraine and Moldova start joint customs and border control at Reni border crossing point

Ukraine and Moldova have officially agreed on the completion of works and the start of joint control on the Ukrainian side, the Ukrainian Restoration Ministry has said. The Reni international road border crossing point is ready for the introduction of common customs and border control.
The launch of full-fledged common control is the first step within the "green corridor" initiative between the Ukrainian border crossing point Reni, Moldovan Giurgiulesti and Romanian Galati. Common control on the Ukrainian side will increase the capacity of this section of the border. Currently, no more than 50 lorries per day pass through Reni. Our goal is to double this number. The next stage of the "green corridor" initiative will be a coordinated control at the Romanian point together with Moldovan colleagues, which will open a quick way to the Romanian port of Galati", - said Deputy Minister of Community Development, Territories and Infrastructure of Ukraine Serhiy Derkach.
In addition to lorries, buses will also be subject to general control, for which a separate lane with a terminal is provided at the checkpoint, which will reduce waiting time for passengers.
