New transshipment terminal at the Ukraine-Romania border

Romanian private railway freight company Grampet Group, also known as the owner of the operator Grup Feroviar Român, is opening its newly built grain transshipment terminal near the Ukrainian border.
The logistics facility, located in Dornesti, will optimise grain shipments to the port of Constanta, according to Grampet Group representatives. The company is owned by Romanian multimillionaire Gruiu Stoica.
According to experts, the terminal in Dornesti will help improve communication with the port of Constanta on the Black Sea coast and facilitate transshipment of cargo coming from Ukraine.
‘Romania has played and continues to play an important role in the work of solidarity corridors with the European Union to facilitate the transit of grain exports from Ukraine, which is important for food security in underdeveloped regions of Africa and Asia, as it enhances commercial flows at the global level,’ explains Gruia Stoica.
This is the fifth terminal of the Grampet Group to provide connections between Ukraine and Romania. Its maximum capacity is 3 million tonnes of cargo. The loading and unloading stations can handle 8 wagons at a time, which ensures a processing speed of 500 tonnes per hour. Ukraine is also building its own terminal on the other side of the border.
