In April, Ukrzaliznytsia expects a significant reduction in tariffs for the use of grain hoppers up to 1100 UAH per day
In April, the tariff for the use of a grain carrier of the Transport Logistics Centre branch of Ukrzaliznytsia JSC may be reduced to UAH 1,100 per day, excluding VAT. This information was made public by Valeriy Tkachev, deputy director of the company's commercial department.
He also reported a significant reduction in the cost of transporting grain cargo by rail in UZ wagons. In particular, the total cost of transporting 1 tonne of grain in Ukrzaliznytsia's grain wagons, depending on the distance of transportation (400-700 km), ranges from USD 14.1 to 21.7 per tonne.
"The total cost of transportation takes into account all types of payments and includes: transportation tariff (infrastructure component); compensation for empty mileage of the car; cost of using the car during transportation (UAH 1250 per day); cost of two days of using the car for loading/unloading; additional station charges and payments at the station of departure (UAH 2500 per car)."
In addition, the cost of transporting grain in Ukrzaliznytsia wagons continues to fall due to the reduction in the cost of using the carrier's wagons due to the decrease in the market price for the use of grain carriers in Ukraine.
"According to preliminary estimates, next month the cost of using grain hoppers of Ukrzaliznytsia JSC is expected to decrease from UAH 1250 to UAH 1100 per day, which will further reduce the total cost of grain transportation by rail," said Valery Tkachev.
