Rule of 1000 points, or how to transport a small consignment of ADR cargo in a standard truck without ADR plates and licence
23 February

The "1000 points rule" allows small volumes of dangerous goods to be transported with #ADR labelling - in standard trucks without appropriate ADR plates. These vehicles can also be driven by drivers without a special #ADR certificate, and transport companies can be without an #ADR licence.

If you need to transport a small amount of dangerous goods, we will advise you on the most appropriate way to do it, taking into account the exemptions related to the quantities transported in one transport unit.

Before starting the carriage, it is important to determine the classification of the dangerous goods, its #UN, which are indicated in the #MSDS, and the transport category, which is indicated in column 15 of Table A.

According to the information received, if the number of dangerous goods transported in one vehicle does not exceed the values specified in column 3 of the table contained in paragraph 1.1.3.6.3 for a particular transport category (when dangerous goods transported in a transport unit belong to the same category), or the values calculated in accordance with paragraph 1. 1.3.6.4 (when dangerous goods transported in a transport unit belong to different transport categories), these dangerous goods may be transported in packages in one transport unit without applying the rules for the carriage of dangerous goods.

Example:
1. 1 container, UN 1203 MOTOR FUEL, 3, II, (D/E), hazardous to the environment, 150 l.
2. 2 containers, UN 1202 DIESEL FUEL, 3, III, (D/E), hazardous to the environment, 400 litres.
Calculation of the total number of dangerous goods in accordance with subsection 1.1.3.6 of ADR:
1. transport category 2, 150 litres, coefficient 3, quantity 450.
2. transport category 3, 400 litres, factor 1, quantity 400.
Total quantity: 850 items.
