This year, salary expectations for truck drivers in Germany are fairly moderate. The average salary expectation is 3,283 euros, according to data published on eurotransport.de.

The study, conducted by Jobmatch.me analysts, is based on a survey of more than 7,500 professional drivers. According to the report, a comparison of the quarters from 2022 to 2024 shows a trend towards relative salary restraint. Despite the fact that the growth in salary requirements from the first quarter of 2022 to the first quarter of 2023 was plus 4.6%, this trend is expected to slow down in the second quarter of 2024. A comparison of the data for the first quarters of 2023 and 2024 shows only a moderate increase in wage claims of 1.6%.

For the first time, the new report analyses wage requirements in local and intercity transport separately. Data from 18.8 thousand professional drivers were analyzed. The average required salary in the long-distance sector was €3,157, and in the local transport sector it was €3,283.

Despite inflation and the shortage of skilled workers in Germany, truck drivers are not likely to insist on a pay rise in the third quarter of this year.
